Our Boat
Our diving takes place from a purpose built luxury dive boat, The Wavedancer II (2015) The WaveDancer is berthed in Eyemouth harbour, at the heart of the St Abbs & Eyemouth Marine reserve.
The Wavedancer is easily loaded from the harbour pontoon. She has a very large and stable dive deck with ample space even for twin-set divers. kitting-up is very comfortable. The wheelhouse provides everyone enough shelter from any rogue weather. There is an onboard galley, flushing toilets and plenty of safe storage for kit.
All our vessels are MCA licensed to carry 12+2 crew to 60 miles from a Safehaven, Oxygen O2 is carried on aboard and the crew are First Aid Response Qualified.
Wavedancer II
Wavedancer II is a BlythCat 36 cat GRP catamaran 11m long with a 5.1m beam. She has seating on the deck for 12 divers and ample seating inside the wheelhouse which is fitted out to yacht standards. She also has an inside electric toilet and bunks. (for those that fancy a lay down between dives!)
Wavedancer carries the latest electronics and an Olex 3D seabed Mapping System which gives outstanding images of the deeper wrecks allowing the divers to get an idea what they are about to dive.
Two 330 hp Cummins engines give Wavedancer II a top speed of 20 knots. Her hydraulic diver lift has been made wider than a standard dive lift allowing easy entry for technical divers complete with side mounts still attached. Her size and speed make Wavedancer ideal for offshore diving, but she also dives The Firth of Forth trips and local diving when required,
An additional feature of Wavedancer II is a large flybridge where divers can sit between dives and spot minke whales or dolphins
Last Minute Diving
Although often fully booked in advanced, a few last minute spaces are sometimes available for both diving and accommodation. If you and a buddy would like a dive in the next few weeks, speak to Gary, or email to check for spaces.
Diving from Eyemouth
Eyemouth Harbour is navigable at all tides so departures times for diving can be varied to suit each group. Local diving is typically a two dive trip with a surface interval on the boat. Tea and Coffee is available onboard. Generally, morning departures are around 9.00am and afternoon departures 1:00pm. Please check with Gary for exact times of your trip. With fast cruising speeds the best local diving around St. Abbs Head is never more than a short ride away.
For extended trips and technical trips, The Wavedancer has plenty of space to stow extra equipment, spares, packed lunches, and whatever snacks you might want to bring for the day.
