Accommodation for divers in St Abbs is sometimes tricky to find. There are a couple of very good B&B and Bunkhouses in St Abbs but these are often fully booked or unsuitably expensive. There are also a couple of “Travelodge Type” hotels in the area. There is however, a much better solution.
The Home Arms Bed & Breakfast in Eyemouth is just 5 minutes away from St Abbs and is a great place for divers. Opened in 2012 by Divers Gary Steenvoorden and Zoe Shephardson, The Home Arms is part of DiveStay so the whole place is designed with divers in mind.
Although excellent diving is available with DiveStay, you don’t have to dive with us to stay with us. (Although, you probably will next time).
The Home Arms
The Home Arms is situated in the centre of Eyemouth. The large house with spectacular panoramic views across the bay can comfortably accommodate up to 24 people. Extensively renovated the very highest standards with divers in mind, the house can easily be configured (all in single beds if required) for a large group of divers plus non-diving guests.
The rooms, as modern and spacious as any top hotel, are way above the standards of typical diver accommodation. The attention to detail and personal service are better than any bed & breakfast, but the prices are very affordable.
The Home Arms is run by experienced divers as Gary explains:
“All B&B’s have the basics, but as fellow divers we know the things that make a trip better. We have a compressor for air fills, safe storage for equipment, a drying room and free access to washing & drying machines. We have a guest lounge large enough for the whole group to relax in comfort, but we’d recommend you discover some of Eyemouth’s excellent pubs and restaurants too. When a simpler solution is required after a day’s diving, or when arrival times are staggered, you can stay in and enjoy a take-away or some Mackay’s fish & chips. “
Staying at The Home Arms
Divers can travel up the night before and have plenty of time to prepare for diving. We’re happy to help contact your skipper, assist with air fills, or provide basic local knowledge to enjoy some great diving.
“We cannot change the way the wind blows,
we can only change the way we set the sails”
DiveStay – The DiveStay Difference
With Packages that offer diving from the WaveDancer’s and staying at The Home Arms, DiveStay aims to be the very best way to dive St Abbs & the Berwickshire Coast. Dive gear is transported to and from the boat so your car can stay parked.
When the weather forecast is poor, we’ll always advise as best we can to save a journey. When the weather for diving turns poor, we’ll berth the Wavedancer, head for The Home Arms lounge, and hope for better. There’s lot’s of things to do in Scotland when the diving is off, worrying about losing your money isn’t one of them.
If we have to cancel anything we refund Diving AND we refund unused DiveStay accommodation and give you the option to re-book for another date.
